Muntons Gold Series India Pale Ale
During the 19th century, British troops serving in the British East Indies wanted beer from home but the long sea journey spoiled ordinary beers. To survive the journey, India Pale Ale was created to have a higher alcohol & hop content to keep any bacteria at bay during the voyage. When it arrived, the beer was watered down to normal strength (of course, the higher ranking officers got to enjoy the non-diluted version!). With this kit you have a choice: create the classic IPA at normal strength or the stronger “higher ranks reserve” full strength version.
Just add priming sugar and caps if bottling.
Typical analysis:
• Color (EBC Units) 22 – 28
• Bitterness (EBU's) 17 - 23
• Solids (by refractometer) 80% - 82%
• Acidity (as lactic) 1% max
• pH 5 - 6
• Free Amino Nitrogen 0.15%
